Only you can push yourself

Philippians 3:12-14 “Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

God has a purpose for your life and my life. Then each day you and I live our lives by doing different things on purpose. We intentionally do the things that fill our days. Sure, there are the occasional accidents. I ask you with what do you… on purpose…. fill your days?

Start now and purpose to do one thing for Christ that was not already planned for your day. Fulfill that commitment. No one can make you do right. If someone makes you do right… then it is not really right. (YOU)-Push yourself to “press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

Our building we’ve had services in…

Our building that we’ve had services in for a year and a half as well as used for other aspects of ministry is coming to an end. The landlord is moving out of his bigger house to downsize into the house we were renting.

Now we will be meeting in houses of people that we have been teaching up to this point. Please pray for more families to open their houses so that we can begin new Bible studies in new areas. We know the Lord can use this change for the further of our ministry here.

Indonesia and Palestine

Please be in prayer for Indonesia’s attitude concerning the Israeli Palestinian conflict. Indonesia, not to our surprise, is in full support of the Palestinian people. They are raising money at intersections in our town to send to help the victims. They are also trying to raise up volunteers to go and fight against Israel.

Pray for all of our safety as we live and serve here. We have not had any problems and we pray that it will continue that way.

Update on my wife’s health

Please pray a special prayer for healing for my wife. She has suffered off and on with varying symptoms including fatigue, dizzy and upset stomach. The list is too long to put it all down. Being tired does not sound bad to many, however she describes it to me as having jetlag…do you know how that feels? Not fun, especially when you go from the U.S. to Indonesia.

I know the Lord uses medicine and doctors…however, we have tried that. We still will be seeing some doctors to check on food sensitivities/allergies and anything else they want to check, but we are praying that the Lord would simply heal her.

We both greatly appreciate your lifting this matter up to the Lord in prayer.

My wife’s health

Please be in prayer for my wife’s health.  We have met with many doctors that have helped a lot yet still without giving us a definite answer as to what is the diagnosis.

She has been going through a lot of different problems, but the past two weeks have been much better for her. Thank the Lord for His help.  We know our health really comes from the Lord.

New Visitors and Repeat Visitors

I am not sure for which I am more excited, the new visitors or the visitors that have actually come back after hearing the Gospel.  We had 10 visitors tonight!  Two were little children, one boy was eleven, another was fifteen…no, wait he was twenty…that depends on who you were asking :) !?  The rest were adults.

All but one single lady, were Muslim.  The family that is a repeat visitor has come about five times to our services.  They were the family that startled me when they stopped me while I was preaching to ask questions.

The other family is next door neighbors to the first family that visited.  Both families are neighbors with the Indonesian with whom we are working.   We rejoice to see his family’s boldness concerning inviting them to our services.

Please pray for the families without salvation!

They will spend forever in a Christ-less eternity if they do not turn in faith to Him before they die.  I know that many that will read this already know Christ.  With that said, let’s not become apathetic to those still without Jesus.  I will not soon forget the lessons my basketball coach constantly drilled in my mind about apathy.  We must care enough to invite, to witness and let’s not forget… to pray.

God is moving.

The Devil is trying to distract.

Pray for us as we continue.

Ouch! Those gas prices gotta hurt!

Okay, I know you all don’t have it easy in the US concerning how expensive so many things are at this time. I don’t have to tell those living in the States that gas is expensive.

I did however want to share a few things that the average Indonesian is going through on a day-to-day basis.

Food is getting more expensive here by the day. The lower classes of people are really feeling the pressures of buying the essentials of living. There is also a shortage on kerosene, with which they do much of there cooking. You drive down the road and instead of seeing people lined up waiting for kerosene, you will see their jugs waiting. They line jugs up on the ground outside of a small store that is scheduled to get a truck full of kerosene. Then a rope is routed through the handles of all the jugs to ensure your spot in line when the truck comes in the next 24 hours.(I know, sounds like a real fun process just to get the fuel with which to cook.)

Freedom of religion is also a problem area for Indonesia. It is an idea that is written in the law books of this country. However, it is not a law that is always followed. Pray for the liberties of Christians scattered across the islands of Indonesia to be able to share the message of Christ freely. The radical Muslims want to take over all of Indonesia’s islands. The majority of Indoesians don’t want that to happen, however those that scream the loudest often are listened to the most.

The burning of the mosque in West Java is an example of how religious freedom is not always a reality in the country. Through all that may come our way, pray that we will have boldness to share the gospel with clarity and consistency.

Minority sect’s mosque torched in West Java

Please pray for a situation that has arisen in the past couple of weeks. It has been going on for years. Now, many Indonesians are demanding a sect of Muslims, that are not fanatics, to be disbanned. They have went so far as to burn down one of this sect’s mosques.

Please pray for the safety of the people directly related to this situation. Pray for God’s glory. Pray for the Christians that are in that area. It is in Sukabumi/Jakarta and is very far from us, however we have friends in Jakarta as well as in Bandung-about two hours from Jakarta. Pray that the President will not allow this harshness to continue.
